If you've ever tried to trudge through deep snow, you know it's hard going. Your feet sink, your pants get wet, and walking becomes a lot harder! Snowshoes made it so much easier to walk during the winter. The large mesh distributes weight across a broader area than the foot, and prevents the walker from sinking. This allowed people to walk further and faster during the snowy months...which as we know can be extensive in Michigan!
